Claude Duet is a new app from Anthropic that works for you in the background. Each morning it looks at your email and calendar and tells you what needs you most. It can even start the first steps, like drafting replies. It asks you before it sends, pays, signs or deletes anything.
Right now it is a research preview. That means it is an early version, and you join by waitlist.
What does Duet do?
Think of it like a helper who gets to work before you do.
- A morning brief. Each morning it checks your email and calendar and flags what matters most.
- First steps. It may draft replies for you to look over.
- Updates during the day. It tells you when a task is done or needs your choice. It also follows up on threads that went quiet.
- Its own computer. It works on its own cloud computer, so you can put your phone down.
What will it never do without asking?
This is the part I want you to see.
Duet is built to ask first before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything. Even if you say yes, it will not trade stocks, move money between accounts, or get into someone else's account. It does not make phone calls or text other people. It can send emails from your connected accounts, with your OK.

Who can use it?
- People in the U.S.
- On the Pro, Max and Ultra Claude plans. It is not on Team or Enterprise plans yet.
- On an iPhone or Android phone.
It uses your plan's limits at the same rate as a chat. Its background work, like the morning brief, counts too. So you may hit your limits sooner.
How do you join?
- Go to the Claude Duet page: claude.com/product/claude-duet
- Choose Join the waitlist.
- Enter your name, the email on your Claude account, your plan and your phone type.
- Wait for your invite. Anthropic sends them in waves.
- Open the invite email on your phone and follow the steps.
- Open Claude Duet and sign in with your Claude account.
Use the same email everywhere. It has to match your Claude account and the Apple or Google account on your phone. If it does not match, you may not get in.
Try this: your morning check in
Imagine if you stood in line at the grocery store, opened one app, and knew exactly what needed you today.
Once you are in, connect the tools you already use. Duet works with apps you connect in Claude, like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign and Calendly.
Then tell it something like:
Every morning, tell me the 3 client emails that most need a reply today, and draft a reply to each one. Show me my calls for today. Flag any client I promised something to who is still waiting.
Read the drafts. Fix what needs fixing. Approve the ones that are ready.
What should you watch out for?
- It can make mistakes, like misreading an email or guessing wrong about what is urgent. Read every draft before you approve it.
- It checks your accounts every so often, not every second. Something urgent may wait until its next check.
- An email or web page can have hidden instructions meant to trick an AI. Anthropic says no defense is perfect, and that is why the approvals matter. Take a real look before you say yes.
- Microsoft 365 is not supported yet.
The bigger picture
