You can now build a small app in Gemini and put it on a website in one step. Pick Export, then Google Sites. Your app opens as a private draft page that you can edit, publish and share.
No code to copy. No developer.
What changed?
Gemini has a tool called Canvas that can build small apps from your words. A quiz. A calculator. A simple checklist.
The hard part used to be getting that app in front of people. Now Gemini sends it to Google Sites for you. Google Sites is Google's tool for making simple websites.
Google says your app arrives "fully interactive and ready to customize."
Who can use it?
- People with a personal Google account who can use the Gemini app
- Google Workspace business customers
- Google Workspace Individual subscribers
It works on the web, Android and iPhone.
One catch: Google Sites has to be turned on for your account. If your business Google account is run by someone else, they may need to turn it on.
How do you do it?
Step 1: build the app in Canvas
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- Below the text box, click Add Files, then pick Canvas.
- Type what you want the app to do, then send it.
Step 2: send it to Google Sites
- On your finished app, pick Export, then Google Sites.
- It opens in Google Sites as a new private draft.
- Add your words, your colors and a link to book with you.
- Publish it when it looks right.
Try this: a "which package is right for me?" quiz
Imagine if every new lead could answer 4 quick questions and know which of your offers fits them. No call needed to figure it out.
Open Canvas and type:
Build a short quiz called "Which package is right for you?" Ask 4 multiple choice questions about the person's goal, their budget, how much help they want, and how soon they want results. At the end, recommend one of my 3 packages: [name and describe each one]. Keep the words friendly and simple.
Try the quiz yourself. Ask Gemini to fix anything that feels off. Then export it to Google Sites, add your booking link, and publish.
Put the link in your bio, your email signature and your welcome email.
What should you watch out for?
- Do not put private client information in the app. Once you publish, other people can see the page.
- Be careful with Gemini's own share links too. Google's help page says anyone with a public link to a Canvas app can "view and edit data associated with the app."
- To build apps with Gemini features inside them, you must be 18 or older.
The bigger picture
Here's the thing. A little tool that answers a question for your customer can do some of the work of a sales call. Now you can build one by describing it.
I am not a developer. That is the point.
